Ducati ECU Reflash

Reflashing your stock Ducati ECU is the most economical way to correct the fueling issues of your motorcycle. After our reflash your bike will have improved performance and throttle response! Map features vary per bike model/setup, but some of our capabilities include:

  • Removal of oxygen (O2) sensor.
  • Removal of exhaust valve.
  • Increased RPM limit.
  • Removal of Immobilizer system.
  • Idle adjustment.
  • Mapping the entire rev and throttle position range.

We store your original map files and can restore your ECU any time at no charge. Our reflash does not affect any other functions of the ECU such as the Ducati Traction Control (DTC) or warning code functions. Please see the FAQ below for further information.

To order you can checkout online then print and fill out this ECU flash form and send it to us with your ECU. Or you can simply print and fill out the form including the payment section and send it with your ECU. This form must accompany all ECUs!

*Please check with us to ensure we have the exact mapping you want before sending us your ECU.

Ducati ECU Reflash

Flash FAQ
Can I send you an ECU from another Ducati model to be flashed?

This is possible, but not with every ECU. You must ensure the ECU you want to have flashed is compatible with the map you need for your bike. First you need to know if you have a Siemens or Marelli ECU.

Marelli: On the plug side of the ECU you will find a sticker with the ECU information. An example is: IAW 5AM.BS. You need to note if your ECU is a 5AM (as this example is) or a 5.9M.

  • We can turn any 5AM ECU into any other 5AM ECU. An example: We can flash a 1098 full system map into an OEM Hypermotard ECU.
  • We can turn any 5.9M ECU into any other 5.9M ECU. An example: We can flash a 749 slip-on map into an OEM Supersport 1000 ECU.
  • We cannot turn a 5AM into a 5.9M or vice-versa.

Siemens: On the top of the ECU you will find a sticker with the ECU information. An example is: D083IU1MKL. The first four characters are what you need to note.

  • D0A2 and D0A3 are interchangeable. These ECUs are found on HYM796 and HYM1100 (all models), M696ABS, M796, M796ABS, M1100 ABS and M1100EVO.
  • D081 and D083 are interchangeable. These ECUs are found on M696 and M1100 models.
  • D0A2 and D0A3 are not interchangeable with D081 and D083 and vice-versa.
Can you increase the rev limiter on my Ducati?

We generally leave the limiter stock, but if you require a certain increase please let us know as we have the ability to change this value.

Can you disable the immobilizer system on my Ducati?

If the immobilizer is controlled by the ECU on your Ducati then we can, but many of the newer models are controlled by the dash and we cannot remove the immobilizer system through the ECU.

Can you disable the immobilizer system on my Ducati?

If the immobilizer is controlled by the ECU on your Ducati then we can, but many of the newer models are controlled by the dash and we cannot remove the immobilizer system through the ECU.

Why would I want to disable the O2 sensor on my Ducati?

The O2 sensor is active anytime it is hot enough, but the ECU only uses this information in the closed loop mode (under 20% throttle and 5,000 RPM). Closed loop is the operating mode where all engine control sensors including the O2 sensor are used to get best fuel economy and lowest emissions.

By disabling the O2 sensor we can map the entire rev and throttle position range. Focusing not on best fuel economy and lowest emissions, but on best power and most importantly – rideability.

This also gives you the option of using a PCV, Bazzaz, etc… to make your own custom maps across the entire rev and throttle position range; something that can’t be done with the O2 sensor active.

Why would I want to disable the exhaust valve on my Ducati?

The exhaust valve is only active in a small RPM range and is only for sound testing. It has no affect on performance. By disabling it you can remove the entire servo assembly as well as the associated wiring. This reduces weight and clutter with no positive or negative affect on performance. This is required when installing a full exhaust, as there will be no provisions to reinstall the exhaust valve. Leaving it active will result in a CEL light on the dash.

Do I have to do anything other than install my newly reflashed ECU?

If you have a Marelli ECU you must reset the throttle position sensor (TPS). Any Ducati dealer can do this or you can use a VDST or similar tool if you have access to one. We also suggest setting the CO levels with the trimmer function of the ECU and an EGA.

If you have a Siemens ECU, the TPS is self-resetting and there is no trimmer function available. When you first start your Ducati after installing a newly reflashed ECU do not touch the throttle and the ECU will automatically reset the TPS. If you touch the throttle while starting the bike it will retain the previous TPS setting, which won’t be correct for the reflashed ECU.

Will the reflash affect any functions of my ECU such as DTC or ABS?

No, the standard functions of your ECU all remain intact. We only modify those listed in the FAQ and the flash list such as exhaust valve and O2 sensor. We never remove DTC, ABS or any other feature/function.

Will the startup message on my dash be changed?

Possibly as some of our maps change the startup dash message and some do not. If you would like a specific message you’ll have to specify when ordering the flash. This can increase the turnaround time and there is an additional fee of $100.

If I need a different map later can I get a discount on another reflash?

Yes, we offer follow up flashes at a 50% discount, so $125. This could be to update mapping based on new modifications or to use the ECU on a different compatible Ducati model.

What is your turn around time?

Typically 24-48 hours from our receipt of your ECU. If you make custom selections such as having the rev limit raised or the immobilizer removed it is possible that we will need more time to complete as a new flash has to be created.

Will this void my original warranty?

In general the way warranty works is that if you have an aftermarket part installed and it causes the failure your original manufacturer’s warranty does not have to be honored. So if you install a flashed ECU and have an electrical issue that can be traced back to the ECU there is a good chance your warranty claim will be denied. However, if the headstock on your frame cracks the warranty will be intact, as the ECU couldn’t have caused this.

Can you turn my ECU back to original?

Yes, we can restore your ECU to exactly how we originally received it free of charge. We can also reload our flash again afterwards (this might be needed for emissions testing as an example).

Do you offer a warranty with the ECU flash?

This modification is considered for racing purposes only and there is no warranty either expressed or implied. You are having your ECU flashed at your own risk. Having said that, we will be more than happy to work with you to resolve any issues. This is a great service and we follow it up with great customer service. We want you to be completely satisfied with your ECU flash.
